Southern Tanzania Safaris
Southern Tanzania safaris are less famous
than those of the North and the Parks
receive few visitors. Those on safari for
the first time will probably prefer to visit
the big names of Ngorongoro or Serengeti but
the parks of the South are vast and
beautiful and offer a more remote wildlife
experience.
Whilst Arusha is the logical point of
departure for all Safaris in the North and
all Parks are closely grouped together for
Southern Tanzania Safaris, the Parks of the
South are each separated one from the other
by quite large distances and whilst the road
situation is improving most connections are
best made by small reasonably priced charter
or scheduled flights which move between the
parks. There is also a wonderful safari
train link between Selous and Dar es Salaam.
The best point of departure in general is
Dar es Salaam but your safari in the South
can also start with a flight connection from
Nairobi, Arusha,
Zanzibar
or even Mafia island with directly daily
connections to the
Selous
National Reserve.

Selous
National Reserve,-
Large numbers of elephants, black rhinoceroses, cheetahs, giraffes,
hippopotamuses and crocodiles live in this immense sanctuary, which
measures 50,000 km2 and is relatively undisturbed by human impact. The
park has a variety of vegetation zones, ranging from dense thickets to
open wooded grasslands.
The 1 hour balloon safari

Safari 4x4 vehicles
Safari vehicles must serve several purposes: they must allow you to sit
in comfort for game drives, offer excellent viewing opportunities, and
be tough enough to withstand the demands of the Tanzanian wilderness.
We ensure that our travelers always have access to a clean,
well-maintained vehicle, appropriately sized and equipped for their
group and activities. Guests travel in up-to-date and immaculately kept
vehicles appropriate for the territory and itinerary. The safari
vehicles are fully equipped with radios, bottled water, field guides,
binoculars and other amenities for comfort and safety.
With the exception of transfers within Nairobi and Arusha, when
minibuses are used, we use four-wheel-drive vehicles(4x4) - custom built
safari Land Cruisers and Land Rovers - exclusively on all our safari
programs.
Safari vehicles are converted into custom-built safari cars, with pop-up
roof to enable visitors to view wildlife better. Vehicles are fitted
with thickly-cushioned individual seats.
All safari cars have two-way radio communication equipment fitted to
keep in contact with Head Station Base Radio located in our office
Arusha.
A cool box, a pair of binoculars and reference books on mammals, birds,
flora and fauna are all standard equipment in each vehicle.
Safaris operates with 4x4 safari vehicles and strives to ensure the best
combination of comfort and effectiveness. The terrain does not allow for
luxury-style vehicles. Vehicles are equipped with the necessary safari
equipment, as well as a basic first-aid kit. Safari driver/guides are
well trained for handling vehicles under extreme 4x4 and safari
conditions and put the safety of our clients first at all times.
Transport arrangements are ensured and facilitated to the very last
detail on behalf of the client, e.g. when it is necessary to take a
domestic flight, if we can not collect you personally, transport will be
arranged to and from your accommodation.
