For Safaris, the general rule is the longer the better, particular in large areas such as the Serengeti, Ruaha and the Selous.

While it is possible to "see" plenty of wildlife on a day trip or an overnight excursion, you'll need more time to experience the more subtle attractions of Tanzania's magnificent wilderness areas.

We recommend you allow up to 5 days for a serious safari in the northern circuit allowing you to get of the main roads and explore a bit.

In the south and in places you can fly in and out, you could have an excellent experience with 3/4 days focused on one park or reserve.

With mountain climbing we always advice the clients to take one extra day longer for the climb giving yourself a better chance of success due to better acclimation.

NOTE: The costs above is in four wheel drive vehicle, Land Cruiser or 110 Land Rover(TDI). We have also extended Land Rover/Land Cruiser and Minibus 4 x 4.

Camping Safari- Get a feel for the untamed spirit of your roots as you camp under the stars and commune with nature. Upon arrival to your destination the camp is set up and meals are prepared by your cook, who is proficient at catering for both vegetarian and non-vegetarians as well as special diets.

Camping conjures up many different images for different people – memories of scout and guide camps as a youth or perhaps family camping trips – but for the purposes of the safaris offered by ZanzibarMagic, there are four categories: 1. Budget Camping  2. Fly Camping  3. Luxury Camping  4. Lightweight Luxury Camping

Budget Camping Safari involves traveling with all your camp equipment, your guide and possibly a cook in your vehicle with you. Once you get to camp everyone helps cook and set up. This is economical and fun, but does mean that you spend valuable time in the evening organizing your camp and food when you could be out on game drives. You may join a group or have the safari as a "private safari"

Fly Camping Safari Tanzania Fly camping involves setting up small, temporary camps for a night under the stars, more often than not in a remote part of the bush.

Luxury Camping Safari Tanzania- Imagine feather pillows, soft towels, gin and tonic on the rocks and four course gourmet meals in a candlelit dining tent as far from civilization as you can get.

Safari 4x4 vehicles

Safari vehicles must serve several purposes: they must allow you to sit in comfort for game drives, offer excellent viewing opportunities, and be tough enough to withstand the demands of the Tanzanian wilderness.

We ensure that our travelers always have access to a clean, well-maintained vehicle, appropriately sized and equipped for their group and activities. Guests travel in up-to-date and immaculately kept vehicles appropriate for the territory and itinerary. The safari vehicles are fully equipped with radios, bottled water, field guides, binoculars and other amenities for comfort and safety.

With the exception of transfers within Nairobi and Arusha, when minibuses are used, we use four-wheel-drive vehicles(4x4) - custom built safari Land Cruisers and Land Rovers - exclusively on all our safari programs.

Safari vehicles are converted into custom-built safari cars, with pop-up roof to enable visitors to view wildlife better. Vehicles are fitted with thickly-cushioned individual seats.

All safari cars have two-way radio communication equipment fitted to keep in contact with Head Station Base Radio located in our office Arusha.

4x4 vehicles used for game drives have variable seating plans of 5 - 7 persons. All vehicles have opening roof hatches making them ideal for game viewing and photography.
