From its prime position on the eastern rim of the famous Ngorongoro Crater, Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge offers today’s safari participant sophisticated comfort that Stanley, Livingstone, Speke and all others could only have dreamt of. The lodge boasts more than 100 rooms all equipped with two queen-sized beds, carpets, fully tiled bathroom with bidets and hair dryers, and private lounge with mini bar. A beautiful swimming pool overlooks the crater.

Perched on the rim of the collapsed volcano, the Ngorongoro Crater, a world heritage site, often referred to as the eighth wonder of the world. It has the most magnificent views over the crater floor, which is home to vast herds of buffalo, wildebeest, zebra, the rare and endangered black rhino, elephant, cheetah, leopard, lion and herds of gazelle and wildebeest.

Its position on the Eastern rim allows the most spectacular and uninterrupted views of the sunset.

Weddings at the Lodge
Ngorongoro Sopa is the ideal setting for small wedding ceremonies. Wedding packages are tailored for intimate events.

Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge Opened in 1992, the lodge can accommodate 190 guests in 92 suites, each enjoying wall-to-wall carpeting, central heating, a private lounge with a mini bar, a bedroom with two queen size beds and ample room for a third, an en-suite bathroom with shaver sockets and a hair dryer, and a private solarium which offers stunning views either down into the crater floor below or of the setting sun over the western horizon.

Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge

Situated on the eastern rim of the Ngorongoro Crater, the lodge offers breathtaking views of the crater floor far below.

Opened in 1992, the lodge can accommodate 190 guests in 92 suites, each enjoying wall-to-wall carpeting, central heating, a private lounge with a mini bar, a bedroom with two queen size beds and ample room for a third, an en-suite bathroom with shaver sockets and a hair dryer, and a private solarium which offers stunning views either down into the crater floor below or of the setting sun over the western horizon

Complimentary bottled mineral water is provided in the mini bars while further stocks are available for sale in the main bar. A swimming pool is situated on the very edge of the crater itself and the water is bracing, even invigorating to say the least, at any time of year.

However, for those who would prefer the warmth of a shower or bath in their suite, the pool is a perfect area to unwind and relax while enjoying the views of the crater floor below or of the sunsets in the evenings.

Reception
On arrival you will be welcomed with a hot towel and a glass of refreshing juice, much needed after the long journey.
From the reception area you will see the will breathtaking view of the crater..

Lobby
The lobby is very spacious, has a high ceiling and a glass dome. Tea and Coffee are freely available to our guests in the coffee bar area.

The lower lobby has large glass doors, which open onto the verandah, with a view of the pool. Here you can enjoy cocktails, while watching the most spectacular view of the sunset anywhere on the Crater rim.

Accommodation

All of the 91 double bedrooms are very spacious and each two queen sized beds and a separate dressing area. Each room has a glass fronted verandah, where you may enjoy a private view of the Crater The lodge has 6 single rooms, all of which have a queen sized beds and glass fronted sliding doors.
Dinning

The restaurant is in the shape of a rondvale, has a high roof and large glass windows to view the crater. From the inside the ceiling resembles the inside of an umberella
The menus offer good choice and at dinner you will have the opportunity to try a traditional African dish

Dining
The restaurant area serves a buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner. Afternoon tea can be taken in the coffee bar or outside. High teas can be arranged for children and we are happy to cater for special diets if advised in advance.

This cosy area has 4 real fires and comfortable seating, where you can relax
