NGARE SERO is a Masai word which means "Sparkling Water"
Ngare Sero Fish Farm. The rainbow trout farm is situated near the lodge and is fed by the cool, pure water of the Ngare Sero springs from Mount Meru. The lake around the Lodge is stocked to provide great fly fishing to Lodge clients. Large-scale fisheries and environmental destruction have driven the oceans beyond their sustainable threshold, therefore we feel it is vital consumers support environmentally friendly and efficient culture systems such as this one.

and simmer in the immense beauty of East Africa The Lodge has been adapted from an early colonial farmhouse built at the turn of the century. It has just ten rooms and provides personal service to Lodge residents only. Thick walls, heavy timber beams and period décor impart comfort and charm. |

The snows of Kilimanjaro form a splendid backdrop for a sundowner on the verandah and watching the changing colours of the glaciers is an unforgettable experience. Walking or driving the rough and dusty road toward Ngare Sero Lodge, one inadvertantly becomes part of the daily bustle of life in Arusha, Tanzania. People travel between the villages and the main road on foot, by bicycle, on buzzy motorbikes or piled and packed into overloaded and chugging Toyota trucks. |

Many carry heavy bundles of grass or bananas balanced perfectly on their heads. Some may carry a few live chickens by the legs, inverted and swinging. Some lead goats. Some smoke. Some chew sugarcane. The brilliant hues of the fabrics worn by many add a sharp visual sound to the earthy dusty din... ...then...finally. A long straight path to the left, sentried by an ordered row of scarred and ancient fig trees leads the dusty feet and widening imagination down a sun-drenched path to an old iron gate. |
