Wedding at Matemwe
If you would like to marry in a perfectly romantic and exotic setting, Matemwe Bungalows offers the opportunity to carry out the full wedding on our pristine beach or on your private veranda.
We can assist you to carry out the full ceremony and at Matemwe, without you having to go to any office (a government official will be at Matemwe to conduct the official ceremony).
We need the following original documentation to prepare for your wedding:
An application letter in English (signed by both partners) indicating that you want to marry in Zanzibar, with intended date of marriage.
This letter should be addressed to: Regional Commissioner: Urban – West Region, P.O Box 265. Zanzibar. |

Two photocopies of each of their passports Birth registration Certificate for both parties Certificate of Domicile from each. Two passport photos each
A signed written statement from each partner, stating that they are single. (This is very important). All the above can be reliably sent via DHL to Matemwe, P.O. Box 3275, Zanzibar, Tanzania..
We will take care of the further contact with the regional commissioner. According to Zanzibar Law, clients must be in Zanzibar for 2 weeks but this is not enforced. |

A 21-day notice before the actual date of marriage will have to be put up at the notice board of the municipality in town.
We can carry out the full process for you if you send all the above papers to us at least 3 months prior to the wedding date.
The total cost of the wedding, including all arrangements, a ring pillow, champagne, tropical flowers, wedding cake and digital pictures on a CD-Rom, followed by a celebratory evening dinner on your veranda or on the beach will be US$ 1650, payable on booking.
A minimum stay of 3 nights of Matemwe is required for us to carry out the wedding. |
