Horse Riding safaris- Tanzania

has a few operators that offer horseback safaris unlike nothing else in Africa.

Galloping alongside a herd of zebra or wildebeest as they race across the open plains is a lifelong dream for many riders the world over.

Tanzania’s horse safaris offer the chance to make the dream a reality with well-bred, well-schooled mounts, professional equipment and the luxury of miles and miles of countryside in which to ride.

The wild animals are not afraid of horses in the same way that they are of cars or pedestrians, allowing you to get much closer than usual. You must be an accomplished rider if you wish to go on a horse safari as these expeditions will take you into the wilderness, riding in the same terrain as the wild animals. You will ride daily, your ‘game drives’ on horseback.

The camp can be in situ for several days or can move daily by truck. The types of camps that accompany these safaris vary, from lightweight luxury to luxury.

Horse-riding Safaris

There are a number of horse-riding options that will allow you to ride with wildlife in the beautiful and dramatic landscapes of Tanzania . You can choose Horseback Safaris ranging from a few hours, to a couple of days and longer.

Some of the best horseback Safaris in Tanzania are in the Grumeti Reserves in the remote Western corridor of the Serengeti ecosystem. Here you can ride amongst the massive wildebeest, zebra & gazelle herds during their annual Great Migration. If you would like to add an Equestrian Safari to the beginning or end of your Tanzania Safari, please contact us.

See you on Safari... Enquire Now Horse-riding Tanzania

This type of Safari is only organized outside the National Park. We have Meserani snake Park and under the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro in the western corridor. Spend a day or two on the lower slopes of Mt Kilimanjaro, at a coffee plantation. Walk, ride on horseback, learn about farm life on this mixed farm and veterinary practice, meet some of the local Chagga community at their successful dairy project.

The Farm is a fully working 358-acre coffee farm with the perfect terrain for walking, horse riding or just relaxing. In addition to 26 horses it is home to a variety of interesting and fun animals such as donkeys, pigs, cattle, small four-legged creatures like rabbits and guinea pigs and different kinds of poultry and fowl. It will cost you already a few hours to visit all the residents and they are all keen to get some attention from visitors. We offer rides to different destinations and which itinerary you choose depends totally on the experience required and the riding skills of the riders.
Typical Day.
Itinerary for meals, activities, excursions etc. as agreed with the guests.
On Safari: Occasionally an early morning ride, usually breakfast at 7 a.m., afterwards start for a 3 - 4 hours ride. The support vehicle brings lunch to a scenic point where we have picnic. After an extended lunch break another 2 - 3 hours ride to the evening destination, where our crew already set the camp. After a welcome drink a hot shower is waiting for you while the camp chef prepares a delicious dinner.
Some itineraries include a night game drive in an open vehicle.
Enjoy the sparkling stars with the drink before you retreat in your tent and listen to the sounds of the night. Extra for the night Game drive is 70.- EURO per person.
Age range, type of group
No age restrictions! Anyone who likes to be active, while hiking, on bicycle or on horseback or, enjoys farm life, nature and scenery is most welcome. Also those who like to experience African landscape from the veranda, after a Kilimanjaro climb or as a refreshing change from being enclosed in a safari vehicle. For families, couples, singles and kids of all ages.
Recommended Age on Horseback-Safari: 14 to 80 years as long as physically fit and experienced rider. Families, couples, singles
HORSE RIDING COST:

For the horse ride, I would suggest a stay of 3 to 4 nights nights at Ndarakwai after
the climb the mountain.
