Simply enotes the language and culture of the people of the coastal strip of East Africa. The word Swahili originates from the Arabic word Sähil or Saahel the plural form which is Sawähil meaning the coast. |

Swahili has many dialects spoken in different parts of the Swahili
coast and some other parts of Africa and on neighboring Islands in the
Indian Ocean. |

Dieser kommunikative Kiswahili Kurs gibt eine Einführung in das moderne, standardisierte Kiswahili. Besides Tanzania / Sansibar / Zanzibar, where it is the official and national language, Swahili is today spoken in Kenya, Uganda, the Comoro Islands, Mozambique, Somalia, Zaire, Madagascar, Rwanda, Burundi, Malawi, and it is rapidly spreading to Angola, Sudan, Ethiopia, Zimbabwe, all the way down to Southern Africa. |

Today Swahili has spread throughout Africa and it is believed to be the seventh most spoken language in the world. It is spoken and understood by over 90 million people. |
